CEPR encourages Palestinian athletes participating in London 2012 Paralympics

On Tuesday, August 14, the CEPR Palestinian Representation in Gaza welcomed the two Palestinian athletes, Khamis Zaqout and Mohammed Fanouna, who are to participate in the 2012 London Paralympics scheduled for August 23.

Mr. Zaqout and Mr. Fanouna expressed their appreciation for the CEPR invitation and thanked Dr. Abdu for lifting their spirits. They promised to do their utmost to come back with medals for Palestine.

During his visit to CEPR office, Ali Al-Nazli, the director of Al-Jazeera Sport Club, which sponsors and trains Palestinian participants in the London Paralympics, praised the CEPR office in Gaza for its special gesture and support to the athletes.

At the end of August in London, the two Palestinian athletes will compete against their counterparts from around the world champions in a number of events, such as javelin- and discus-throwing, as well as long-jumping.

Over the past four years, the athletes made international records in their sports which qualified them to participate in the London Paralympics 2012.
